Regional Emerging Diseases Intervention
(REDI) Centre
The Regional Emerging Diseases Intervention (REDI) Centre is a facility
jointly established by the USA and Singapore to enhance the region's
capability and capacity to effectively monitor, detect and respond to
naturally-occurring infectious disease outbreaks or man-made health
threats. It is a regional resource for training and research and also plays
a role in facilitating cooperative efforts to deal with critical infectious
disease threats such as SARS and Avian Influenza.
The REDI Centre collaborates with international organizations such as the
World Health Organisation and APEC Health Task Force; the US Centers for
Disease and Prevention (CDC) and other US and Singapore agencies to enhance
regional capabilities important for dealing with emerging and re-emerging
infectious diseases such as outbreak response, infection control and
laboratory biosafety.

Economic Development Board (EDB)

The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) is the lead agency that plans and executes strategies to sustain Singapore as a compelling global hub for business and investment. It enables multinational and Singapore-based companies to enhance and upgrade to higher value-creating operations across manufacturing and internationally traded services, in a knowledge-driven globalised economy.
The EDB Biomedical Sciences Group (EDB BMSG) is responsible for the development of the Biomedical Sciences cluster. It is tasked to develop Singapore as the global centre for Biomedical Sciences in Asia . The BMS Group works closely with A*STAR's Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) and other agencies to develop human, intellectual, and industrial capital in Singapore, in support of the Biomedical Sciences industry.
